The Israelites Restoration

Israelites live 1.jpg

For the first time in 9 years

We are blessed with a new record from THE ISRAELITES.
I remember when I was in middle school, very much into bands like THE SKATALITES, TOOT and the MAYTALS, and of course THE ISRAELITES. This band was founded in 1989, and with this new record, RESTORATION, they stay very true to what they have always done. Very very groovy ska and reggae.
RESTORATIONS is filled with some extreme grooves and overflowing with catchy parts. But straight from the opener of this record, I am brought back to middle school, loving what ska music did to me and how it transformed me as a musician.

The second song of the record pulls on the political heart strings a little bit about poverty and the effect on society. I love that, after 9 years, the first thing spoken about on this record is poverty. That hits hard for me.

The Israelites have always been know to be a christian band, or at least to my knowledge they always were. So the subject is always at hand and on the mind in these songs. In many ways, this album is very good at easing tension, and putting you back in the now.

Just chill out, and ground yourself again.

RESTORATION is all jam packed full of features from artists. Everyone from The Skatalites all the way to Curtis Irie from IRIE IDEA and THE BANDULUS(a personal local favourite of mine)

Anyways, I don’t want to sound like a broken record. But I do love what RESTORATION has to offer. It is available on Spotify, Itunes, and all that other good stuff.

I am very grateful to have been given this record and I am so happy to have it up here on News-Punk.
